Beginner Class- Ribbie Taiyo Scarf – by Megan Delorme
Beginner @ 10:45 am – Ribbie Taiyo Scarf – Oct 18, Nov 1, 15
Beginner @ 7:45 pm – Ribbie Taiyo Scarf – Oct 19, Nov 2, 16
Great project to strengthen your basic knitting skills. This scarf uses garter stitch and sections of ribbing to make the fabric lay super flat. This scarf works well with very colorful, variegated yarn. Pull out those skeins you have been holding onto for a project to show off the beauty of your yarn. This looks very similar on both sides which is a definite plus!
Worsted weight or Aran weight yarn – If you want to use variegated yarn, pick one that the colors have a long run and not a lot of colors in a short length.
Size 8 circular needles – 16″ up (the smaller the easier it is to work with, but a longer cable would work if that’s all you have)
Size 8 straight needles – I don’t care for straight needles but if that’s all you have, pull them out and get some use out of them! Just don’t blame me if you poke your eye out.
OR Whatever size the yarn suggests. This scarf does not need to adhere to a gauge, if it looks too wide we can always take some stitches off and vice versa.
Skills required to successfully take this class:
Long Tail Cast on
Weaving in ends
Since this is a long scarf that requires a lot of knitting, we will meet every other week.
$36 for 3 sessions over 5 weeks. Adult/Teen Class. Payment due first session, cash or check made out to ‘Dogwood Hill Embroidery’.
